Rasa Sentosa

Think again if typos and spelling errors do not occur in Singapore... And this is at a commercial tourist destination no less! What a let down... it's the last place that we'd expect to see such mistakes.

Anyways, it was quite a nice weekend at Sentosa, even though I was down with flu, cough, sore throat, etc, from my Reservist, which ended the day before.

We stayed at Rasa Sentosa, but the room was way below our expectations. Toilet door cannot close completely, furnishing were in a need of revamp 5 years ago... It seemed more like a 3 star hotel. Perhaps I was too pampered by the quality of hotels that I was put in when I was with my previous company. Nonetheless, breakfast buffet was nothing to complain about, and the child care facilities and the staff service was good. We also got a welcome gift from their Sales Manager (I think because we redeemed this stay with our credit card bonus points).

Lucas and I took The Luge at Sentosa. Not bad, can go quite fast. But have to be wary of flipping when cornering too quick, so have to counteract the g force by weighing down on the opposite side. We actually had 3 rides, but Lucas decided it was enough after the 2nd ride.

We also went on the Dragon Trial, Fort Siloso, Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom. Some of the places had "history" so real that we thought it was the real thing... most stuff on Sentosa is man-made, so it may be difficult for tourists to separate the fiction from the non-fiction.

More pics here.

vexille at the picture house

i watched vexille at the picture house on new year's day with some friends. it was supposed to be on the day before, but due to some screw-up with cathay's screening times, we were led to believe that vexille ended it's run on 31st dec 2007.

anyways, it was an anime worth watching. i was somewhat disappointed with the battle sequences of SWORD personnel. was expecting more of this in the depicted tokyo.

i was also desperately trying to locate the ending theme song used in this anime. but mink was not to be found in singapore... at least from my limited search. mink is actually korean... born and raised in korea, but sings in japanese. will have to buy it from some online stores...

btw, after the opening scene, there is a shot of leon and vexille's apartment which showed their hifi setup. there are two speakers that looked like 4 ways, with woofers that seem to be 18" or 20". the components look very much like the 500 series meridian.

here's together again by mink, courtesy of her website, but in mp3 format for your ringtone usage.

replug

i was reading John Broskie's plug on replug, and the first thing that came to mind was IP infringement.

it is so like the apple mag safe power adaptor, with the magnet enabled ends, sticking onto the mac books and power books. and i have my mac book for close to a year now. maybe 10 or 11 months?

fishy fishy... but then again, the topologies used in amplifiers in the audio arena are more or less a rehash of the same ones. just given fancy names that the marketing department coined, and viola... an audiophile priced product.
